Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with a baking mat or parchment paper if you wish and set it aside.
In your mixing bowl, cream together shortening and brown sugar for about 30 seconds.
Add the milk, vanilla and egg. Mix until creamy.
Slowly add dry ingredients and mix-ins until fully incorporated.
Form the dough into 2 inch balls, or use your cookie scoop. Place on prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 8-10 minutes until the edges are slightly golden brown.
Remove from oven and let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes. Transfer to wire cooling racks.
Store in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
